One Happy Magician! Review by Merlin
I like that I'm in good company with the other two reviewers, as I'm guessing all those that bought the Akira must also be cool heads, even if they didn't have the chance to add their reviews yet. So let me start bay saying that the sales guy, Wayne... you dude are one cool ass old school OG! Thanks for helping me decide on getting the Akira 250cc, rather then the Mutant 127cc. You were absolutely right, for a guy my size, I needed more power to enjoy it and get the performance I wanted. The bike is so smooth, and so easy to ride and control. It feels like a feather gliding in the wind when i carve the open roads. The exhaust is just loud enough, but not crazy buzzing like a lawnmower... which was almost what I expected. I've fallen in love with it's pitch at 3000 rpm. As promised, the Akira arrived in less then 3 weeks, was stupid simple to tool up and get rolling, and I had no reason at all to stress about that one Wayne... you were right again! For the price, I'm a very happy magician - and Geico only charged me $173 for 6 months to add the bike to my policy. I been riding it so much my car is collecting cobwebs in the carport. I may drive again when it starts raining, but as long as the sun is out... so am I on my Akira, feeling the open road, and flying high on life! Keep it cool Wayne! Kevin Merlanski. The Akira Review Review by The Monopoly Man
I never like to be the first to review anything, so I'm glad that Jimmy popped the cherry here so now i can follow up with my Akira review.

So for starters... I will say that I really dig how you all ask for nicknames rather then actual names... that's fresh. I hadn't used my nickname in a decade, and brings back some fond childhood memories that remind me of my roots. You see, my first name is Marvin and my last name is Gardner for those of you that were wondering why my nickname is Monopoly Man .. which used to be Monopoly Boy Wonder... cause i was damn good at that game, and used to eat a lot of Wonder Bread! But i digress... either way more people should do hip shit like ask for your nickname.

Now, back to the review...

First things first. I just love a symmetric looking bike with duel exhaust. It is a deal breaker for me if the bike has one big muffler hanging to one side. I like knowing that i can lean and carve with the same ground and side clearance on each side. having identical clearance on both sides makes cutting lanes through traffic a lot easier.

Secondly, the bike is nice an narrow. I used to have a Kawasaki EX500. It was basically the exact bike as this but with half the engine and just an inch or two wider. I loved that bike. I could slice through gridlock like a hot knife through butter, and never clipped a car, but or tree. Since i did not have the budget to buy a new EX500 or similar, and was not about to buy someones dropped bike used, i was elated to have found this bike for this price!

Thirdly, the Akira handles like a feather. You know how when you go water-skiing, and it's early in the morning, before the lake is full of boats, and the water is just glass, and you can carve, glide, and pop so effortlessly, not worrying about other boats wakes messing up your carves... well that's how the Akira feels when you're on a steep and windy mountain road. It's very responsive, has great suspension, the breaks are tight, and it has a short stopping distance since it's so nice and light. I barely feel it between my legs almost... it's like riding a cloud... not the type of cloud you see at the start of the Simpsons... but a bit of a thunder cloud... cause it does make a bit more noise when you wind it up then many other bikes it's size. But you know what... that aint so bad. I like for the card to hear me coming. And my full face helmet has built in Bluetooth for my music... and i don't hear the engine nearly as much as the car-clowns on my sides do.

When it comes to price... that's both unbelievable and unbeatable. I'm a savvy online shopper, so i went and did my own price comparisons with other sites selling this style of bike. Some had lower prices, but then they sneak in extra costs at checkout. Other sites had similar looking bikes but the price was several hundred bucks more, and after spending a couple hours surfing online for better prices, and a few days thinking it over, i came back here to make my purchase.

I want to thank the staff here for being on top of their game. I wanted to have the bike shipped to a different address, and to avoid and identity theft issues, i had to call my credit card company to add the additional address... so it made me feel like they had my back and my information was safe here. The sales guy Wayne is a cool, and got me all sorted out.

The thing arrived a few weeks later, it was not problem getting it out of the box, and connecting the battery, and a few other little odds and ends. I was riding my Akira the same day, and have ridden it every day I've owned it.

The only problem i experienced was that my MSO paperwork for registering the bike went to my billing address instead of my shipping address, but otherwise, this was a far less complicate then i ever imagined it would be, and i worked myself all up for nothing.

My advice to anyone thinking of buying this bike here... is to just do it! It's the right price, for a great bike, and the people at Joy Rides are trustworthy and good folks, and I give them 2 thumbs up!

Be safe out there... Marvin Gardner, aka Monopoly Man (Posted on 7/26/13)
Ricearoni Review by Jimmy
I love my rice cooker! It's not nearly as fast as it looks... it's actually faster! I figured it would go 85 max... but I've gotten it up to 120+ and with room on top! and it handles rad! Especially in traffic, i can zip between everything. I was almost going to buy a ninja 250 or a kahasai ex500... but I'm so glad i saved more then half and got myself the Akira 250cc instead! I mean shit... just look at it... it's SICK! Scooters and mopeds are cool and all, and a 150cc scooter was what I came on this site to find, but after seeing this bike for 2 grand... I was sold. The peeps at Joy Ride are cool heads, and hella made it easy for me. They even took a deposit, and held it for shipment till i had final payment, and in a few weeks i got it dropped off in my driveway. After and hour of tool time I was on the road! SIMPLE ... For Real YO! You can't go wrong with this sweet looking bike for the price. (Posted on 6/19/13)
