In Command! Review by Sean Whittiker
After reading Ronnies review, I am humbled by the fact that i was just going to say "it's a rock-star of an ATV for the price, and that I feel like i got a great deal." But then i read his amazing story, and feel like i should write more about it, but I don't really know what else can be said, words seem to hardly capture the feeling of how empowering it is to get such a great deal on such a quality and brand new 400cc ATV. The thing handles great, is a great value, quality made 4X4 ATV that will put you in command of any terrain you are riding. if you're thinking about buying one... don't wait, you'll be sorry you wasted time sitting on the fence instead of in the commanders chair, rockin' the great outdoors! Commando Saves the Day! Review by Ronny
To review the Commando, I have to share a story, because without proper context, it would be just me saying how happy I am, and you will be too if you buy this ATV, and this would be the end of the review. So this is my story...

An hour ago I finished cleaning my new ATV. I received it just 2 weeks ago, but have been sold on it since last Christmas. Ive been shopping for a full size ATV to go hunting and trapping ever since I was married. I looked at all the dealerships and brands, such as Yamaha, John Deer, Honda, Suzuki, Can-Am, and even Polaris.... yah the ones that make the sea-doo watercraft ... and they were all out of my price range, and a used one was not an option.

The problem is I don't have that kind of money, But I haven't wanted anything this much since I met my wife. My coworker at the Casino recommended I go online. I was shocked at how many different types of Chinese made clone ATV's there were out there for less then half the price of something I was ready too spend twice as much on... if i had the money. And even though I couldn't afford $8000 on a Grizzly or Rubicon, I was confident that i could save up $4000 for the best new Chinese made 400cc, full size ATV with a winch, racks, comfortable seat, and plenty of horsepower... on one of the many sites that sell them. So I began putting away a couple hundred bucks from every paycheck, and cutting back on some miscellaneous expenses, second lunches as well as some beer money.

After doing an obsessive amount of research, and through a rigorous process of elimination, I finally selected this model, on this website as the one I would buy when i had all the money. After 8 months, I'd finally saved up the money and did so without even my wife finding out my plans. It was important to me that I buy this ATV myself. I did not need her, or my father in law (who's also the owner of the Casino I work at) paying for it. Last 2 times we went up to the lodge, I got to ride a hand-me-down 3-wheeler that broke down and needed to be pushed back to the barn. While the men of my wife's family were out hunting, I was trying to repair a broken down junk ATV that once belonged to her brother Devin. He's a bit of a pompous ass, and it eats him up that I'm a better shot then he is. My failure to join the men of my wife's family for the big game hunt was a bit of a running joke now, and participating was a matter of pride. To gain back my lost respect, having a brand new ATV that would keep up and never break down was a matter of necessity.

I ordered the Commando on June 28th, and called to make arrangements for a wire transfer with Wayne who even saved me a few bucks and cut the delivery time by a few days. The Commando arrived as promised and in 17 days It was in my driveway. It took just a few hours to unwrap all the packaging, put on the wheels, set up the battery, and do the full safety check. I went a bit further and double checked every mechanical and electrical connections as well, tightening a few bolts and some loose connectors. I also drained all the stock fluids and replaced them with Prestone and Castrol synthetic... who knows what types of oil, coolant, and hydraulic fluid those Chinese put in there. I prefer breaking in the engine on America's best. In 4 hours I started it up with the turn of the key, and was riding my brand new Commando 400cc that Ive been saving up for half a year!

When my wife came home that night, she was shocked to see me working on a brand new ATV. How? She asked... Where did it come from? When i told her what Ive been doing and why, she gave me a big hug and told me how much she loves me. That weekend, we were going to the lodge. I had only had one other day to ride the ATV before loading it up on the truck and head up to the reservation. I unloaded my ATV in the barn and placed it along side of all the other ATV's that belonged to the men of her family. When I looked at it side by side with all the similar ATV's there... that all cost twice as much, I was very comfortable with my decision.

The next morning, the men gathered after breakfast to discuss the big game hunt to the day. When i joined them they seemed a bit mystified, and mostly ignore me. But that all changed when we got out to the barn and they saw the brand new Brown Cammo 400cc Commando sitting there, they all turned to see me smiling and the mood suddenly changed. After the routine compliments tethered to the casual insult ( i.e. nice atv, but can you ride it?), we all got into our riding and hunting gear, strapped down out rifles and bush bags, and not much more went mentioned about my brand new ATV, it was as if no one wanted to give me the satisfaction. So we all we rode off into the forest down the trail I'd been on before, but this time, I was confident that i would not be pushing back my ATV on it.

There were 6 of us that day. My Father in law, Robert P. Thunderbird, and his brother Carson (my direct boss), as well as their 3 sons, all of whom i know from work. Robert had a Rubicon, and Devin was on an Arctic Cat. Carson was riding a Grizzly, and his sons lance and Dillon were on John Deers... and i was holding up the rear on my Joy Rider 400cc Commando... and proud of it! We headed up the trail, gaining some elevation for the next few miles till we got to a river. While crossing the river, one of tires on Lance's John Deer 450cc spins the wheel and goes flat. Because i had not yet crossed, and my Commando came stock with a powerful electric winch, I was able to pull him back to shore. The winch was strong, and with a full reverse gear, i added a bit more leverage to offset the flat tire that was acting like an anchor in the situation. After some cussing and yelling, Robert and Carson decided that Dillon would tow Lances and his ATV back to the lodge, and the 4 of us would continue looking for a bighorn buck to bag.

Continuing to hold up rear, we pressed on, through the river and into a beautiful valley full of riding trails where we decided to hold up for a break. Devin kept running his mouth at how my Chinese made ATV could never hold up...blah blah blah, so i politely challenged him to a race. We were going to race through the valley, around a large grove of trees and back. As soon as we took of, within 100 yards, the chain on his Arctic Cat ATV snapped in half, leaving his ATV DOA! Wow... I was in disbelief. After some discussion, Carson volunteered to hitch up Devin's ATV and tow him back to the lodge, because my Father in Law, wanted to still bag a deer, and wanted to 'see what i was really made of' so i stayed with him and we continued to ride forward through the valley and up a steep ridge trail to where the Big Horn Buck would be grazing this time of year.

It was mid day now, and if we didn't come across any fresh tracks soon we needed to turn back. My Commando was running strong at this point. The engine was breaking in nicely, and I was really getting the hang of it. Even though nothing was spoken, this was the most amount of time I'd spent with my father In law. Because Naomi and I eloped, I was not hi favorite person, and even though it was Naomi's idea, he always felt like she picked me over what her family wanted. So it surprised me that we didn't all just turn back when Devin's chain blew apart, and he continued forward with me. However, it had more to do with bagging a dear then it was spending time with me. None the less, i was having a great time on my new ATV, carving the trails, and punching it through the bumps. There was no doubt that i had more Umph then Robert's Rubicon.

As we were taking a steep trail up a ridge road, the Rubicon began making a rough idle, backfired a few times and died mid hill. While he continued on his rant and temper tantrum, I went and hitched up is ATV to mine, and when he calmed down enough, we began the long town back to the lodge. At this point, my Commando was truly being tested. It takes a lot to pull another vehicle through dirt, mud, water and sand, 5 miles out of the bush. But eventually we made it, and the not-so-prodigal son on his Chinese clone Commando ATV came rolling down the homestretch trail with his disgruntled father in law on his 10,000 dollar 1 year old Rubicon in hitch. No one could believe it.

The next day the weather changed and everyone headed back to reality. In my mind, I had finally earned some respect from the men of my Wife's family. The next week at work, there was a buzz about how for the first time, in anyone's memory, the clan came home with now deer, and that my Commando ATV had saved the day! on Wednesday, Robert called me into the big office. He wanted to personally thank me for bailing him out on the trail. After learning that i had saved for 7 months to buy my ATV, which I researched and got for a great price, and showed positive initiative, commitment, and even strong leadership skills with how I handled myself on the trail, he wanted me to know that I had good management potential, and to keep up the great work. He even asked where he could buy a Commando for himself, as the engine on his Rubicon was blown, so don't be surprised if he calls you up Wayne!

When I told Naomi about this, she smiled and said to me 'baby, I always knew my father would recognize in you what I've known the entire time... I love you and I'm so very proud of you. I felt like I had finally earned the respect I've been working for. I showed my father in law that I'm not some punk that stole his daughter, but I'm a man... the man she chose to be with, because (according to her) i reminded her of her father. No one has made any jokes about me this past week at work, and next weekend we are heading back up to the lodge to bag that dear. So the past 3 days, I've been riding the Commando to break in the engine. I can't believe it's only been 2 weeks since it arrived in my driveway, and so much has happened, intertwining our destinies. My ancestors would say that there are no coincidences, just fate. In this case I am a believer.

As I said in the beginning of this story, a few hours ago, I was riding my new ATV and braking in the engine for this weekend hunting trip. As I was cleaning it after my 20mile ride, I began reflecting on the past few weeks events. I felt the necessity to share my story with anyone interested in reading, as you may be interested in purchasing yourself this very well built machine, and this is my way of reviewing it, buy reviewing with you my experience.

Perhaps the review I was going to write became more of a novel. But even if you don't relate to any part of this story, I hope you take away from it the fact that this ATV is well built, handles under pressure, on every type of terrain, and can pull more then it's own weight when called upon. You can pay over twice as much for a similar new vehicle, and most of that money will buy you the name Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha... etc. But why would you want to? For under 4 grand you get an OEM version of any of those $8,000+ ATV's, with similar specs, performance and style.

If you have money to burn, then you are not here reading this review. But If you're on a budget and looking for a solid hunting, camping, fishing and overall outdoors-man utilitarian ATV, and you read this far, then believe me, you just can't go wrong with this Commando 400cc for such an unbeatable price.
